BurnType is a small independent design studio and type foundry run by Michael Bagnardi.

Founded in 2017, the studio began as an answer to polished and proper design rhetoric. It challenged the status quo, and looked to evoke a reaction through harsh language and cartoonish machismo.

It has since evolved into an internationally recognized, multi-release project. Its distinct tone gained notoriety in the New York typographic community, and has grown to resonate within design spheres around the world.

The studio is a labor of love. Fueled by the pursuit of interesting and attractive letters. With a headstrong rejection to sameness, the practice operates exclusively around its core motto: Life is too short for boring fonts.
